Some weekend fun changing out a rear seal. I have tried the black rubber and viton 2 piece seals and both leaked. I am blaming the surface condition of the crankshaft. It is pretty pitted.

Polished the surface with emery cloth again but a lot more this time.

My go to engine builder resource Lonnie Grace, recommended a rope seal so that is what we did. Here are some still shots and video of that involved process.
