Many of you may know Jane Hunt as the long-time local vet who lovingly cared for your animals. You may have driven out to Westerly Wynds Farm to visit the peacocks, lend a hand in the greenhouse, stock up on eggs, or find a hand-knit toque for the winter. Jane became a vet in a time where they would only let 4 female students into the program each year. She is an incredible woman who carved out a rich life on the coast with her late husband Don. In this short film, Jane graciously gives us a glimpse into her story as we visit her at the farm in late Spring.

This series - Heritage Gardens of the Pacific Rim - pays homage to farmers and gardeners that imagined something different, put their shovels in the ground and with (a lot of) determination cultivated unique, flourishing spaces. The west coast certainly isn't an easy place to grow food but, with the right tools and knowledge from those that have led the way, we can aspire to live a bit more sustainably and with a greater sense of community. We hope this film will be the first of many inspiring tales to tell!
