President Richard Nixon Address to the Nation on a New Initiative for Peace, October 7, 1970

The President spoke at 9 p.m. from his office in the White House.

President Nixon announced a new peace plan and followed up five days later with an announcement that 40,000 more servicemen would be withdrawn from South Vietnam by Christmas.
