🐟🐟Are you a fisherman and have you ever wondered what the flounder and sea-bass are doing at the bottom of the ocean when they’re not biting? 🐟🐟 I love diving for many aspects but the coolest part for me is to see what all the different species are up to in their natural habitats!

📌 The summer flounder (fluke) is a master of disguise. Its scientific name is Paralichthys dentatus, and translated from latin, dentatus means “toothed” or “having teeth” which is very fitting for the fluke who has extremely sharp teeth and a large mouth. They use their camouflage to blend in with their surroundings and have the ability to change their appearance based on their surroundings. When a prey item swims unknowingly over top of them, they lunge up and grab it using the large mouth and sharp teeth tosfcure their prey. Fluke are mostly benthic (botom dwelling) and feed on the bottom although they have been observed swimming to the surface to go after prey and fishing lures.
