World War II presented a unique challenge to the United States Post Office Department. Transporting mail efficiently, rapidly, and safely during wartime was very important to U.S. soldiers and their families. Join Charles Epting, Vice President of Siegel Auctions, as he presents a few stories he has uncovered through studying these personal, postal relics of the past. Through postage markings on envelopes and postcards, special stamp designs, and historical text from letters, like an eyewitness account of the Nuremberg Trials written by a court reporter, postal history is a fascinating and often overlooked lens through which to view World War II.
