He was murdered for a difference in opinion; he got in an argument with fellow university students and posted on Facebook something that was alleged to be critical of Islam. Religious freedom is not a luxury people in Pakistan have. Blasphemy is a crime that comes with the death penalty. As an Islamic state, blasphemy laws state you cannot speak in a deragatory manner about the prophet Muhammad or the Quran. An estimated 1,274 people Pakistani people have been found guilty of blasphemy. But sometimes even those who might be innocent are subject to vigilante justice. These human rights abuses have recently come under fire.
