The Boya BY-M1 Omnidirectional Lavalier Condenser Microphone is a budget mic that is great for video recording. It boasts amazing sound quality and very good noise filtration. Designed with an omni pick-up pattern for full 360 coverage, it is an excellent accessory for Youtubers and Bloggers who intend to create videos with high-quality audio.

One of the most striking features is that it has an integrated 20 ft (6M) cable, which provides for great maneuverability especially during external shoots. It can be easily connected to smartphones, DSLRs, audio recording devices, and PCs. Designed in a very compact manner, it is very easy to use and convenient to carry.

The sound quality itself is very good as we have seen while using it over the past few months now. On the cylindrical main body, there is a power switch indicating Camera / Smartphone mode. While using with smartphones, this switch can be turned off as it draws power from the phone that it is connected to. However, while using with DSLRs, this switch must be positioned in camera mode. Since it does not have a battery indicator, you may want to carry a spare LR44 battery so that you do not run out of charge during a shoot.
