The Smart Cities Mission in India is a visionary initiative aimed at transforming urban areas to be more efficient, sustainable, and citizen-friendly through the use of technology and data-driven solutions. Launched by the Government of India in 2015, the mission seeks to address the challenges faced by rapidly growing cities by leveraging digital technologies, infrastructure development, and improved governance.

Under the Smart Cities Mission, selected cities receive funding and support to implement projects across various sectors such as transportation, energy, waste management, water supply, sanitation, and urban planning. These projects are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents, promote economic growth, and make cities more resilient to future challenges.
