Workshop ”Microcredentials in Higher Education: Enabling Future Flexible Learning Pathways“

Microcredentials, as an alternative higher-ed model have been growing for a while as a means of further enhancement of flexibility of learning and contribution to the concept of life-long learning (OECD, Education Working Paper No. 216, 2020; Dirk van Damme, 2018). Many agree, that the concept has emerged in response to the skills gap and have been used for quite some time, based on initiative of some universities, but also numerous private providers. In 2020, microcredentials are one of the key priorities of the European Commission’s yearly work plan with the expectancy of the draft paper of the expert group to be developed by June 2020 followed by a consultation and discussion in autumn 2020.

EURASHE, as a voice of professional higher education, is organising a workshop to discuss the importance of microcredentials in the disruptive times, how this model of learning can shape the whole higher education system and whether professional higher education institutions are ready to accept this new model of learning.
