Arulmiku Dharparanyeswarar temple is located at Tirunallaru in Karaikal district of Puducherry state.
This temple also called saneeswaran temple. It is also a very famous Shiva temple. Saneeswaran worshiped Lord Shiva in this temple and got blessings.

Lord Shiva who resides here and blesses him is called Dharbaranyeswarar.As the companion force of Eason. If Ambigai is called Praneswari and Bhogamartha Poonmulayal.

Saneeswaran of this temple is very popular as it is the east facing Saneeswaran and has the grace of Lord Shiva. As soon as Nalan entered Darbaranyeswarar Temple, the Shani dosha of Nalan was completely removed. But Saniswaran, afraid of being punished by the Lord for his unjust act, would stand at the door and say that he had left Nala. It is said that Lord Shiva praised the action of Lord Shani and gave him the title of God and placed him in front of his temple.

It is for this reason that Sanibhagavan Sannidhi has been erected on the outer wall of Kadagopuram, near Ambal Sannidhi. Here Lord Saturn is shown with two hands in "Abhaya Hastam" kolam.
Other temples have four arms of Saneeswaran. Saturn afflicted people can protect us from all kinds of doshas caused by Saturn by reciting 'Nalapuranam' and worshiping at Tirunallaru temple.

In the forest season of Vyasa Maharishi's Mahabharata, the Pandavas lose their gambling and are in the forest. Sage Prahastava who met and comforted them told the story of Nalan-Damayanti to the Pandavas known as 'Nalapurana'. From this it is clear that the Nalan-Damayanti story predates the Mahabharata period.

A king named Veerasena ruled the country
Nishadha kingdom. His son is Nalan. One day Nalan saw a swan. Seeing his beauty, the swan said, “O king! Damayanti, the daughter of Veemasena, ruler of Vidarappa country, is worthy of your beauty. She is beautiful, lustrous and has four qualities. I'll send her a message.' Nalan heard about Damayanti's qualities through Annam and fell in love with Damayanti. Similarly, Damayanti also fell in love with Nalan after hearing what Annam was saying about Nalan. In this case Swayamavar was arranged for Damayanti. The kings of the earthly world including Nala and the gods of the divine world gathered for Swayamvaram.
The Devas, who already knew Damayanti's love for Nalan, appeared as Nalan to her eyes. Damayanti was stunned to see so many Nalans in front of her.

So Ambika asked 'How can we find the real Nalamakaraja in these people?' If prayed as, 'The eyes of the gods do not blink; Damayanti learns that the garland they wear will not fade. Later she discovers the real Nalan and marries him. Two children were born into their happy home life.
Meanwhile on Nala Enraged and jealous, the Devas forced Shaniswaran to torture Nala. Shani wanted to convey to the Devas the pure state of mind of Lord Nala. Once Nala went to the temple without washing his feet properly.
Taking advantage of this mistake, Saneeswaran captured Nala for seven and a half years.

அருள்மிகு தர்ப்பாரண்யேஸ்வரர் திருக்கோயில், புதுச்சேரி மாநிலத்தின் காரைக்கால் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள திருநள்ளாற்றில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

இது சிவத்தலமாயினும் சனிபகவான் சன்னதி மிகவும் பிரசித்தி பெற்றது. இதனால் இந்த கோவில் சனீஸ்வரன் கோவில் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

இத்தலத்தில் சனீசுவரன் இறைவன் சிவபெருமானை வணங்கி பேறு பெற்றார். கிழக்கு நோக்கிய சனீஸ்வரன் என்பதாலும், சிவனருள் பெற்றவர் என்பதாலும், இத்தலத்தல சனீசுவரன் பெரும் புகழ்பெற்று விளங்குகிறார்.

நளன் தர்ப்பாரண்யேஸ்வரர் கோயிலுக்குள் நுழைந்ததுமே,நளனைப் பிடித்திருந்த சனி தோஷம் முழுமையாக நீங்கிவிட்டது. ஆனாலும் நியாயத்துக்கு புறம்பாக செயல்பட்டதற்காக இறைவனிடம் தண்டனை அடைய வேண்டி வருமோ என்று பயந்த சனீஸ்வரன் வாசல்படியோடு நின்று, அவனை விட்டு விலகி விட்டதாக சொல்வர். ஆனால், இறைவன் சனீஸ்வரனின் நிலையைப் பாராட்டி ஈஸ்வரப் பட்டம் வழங்கி, தன் கோயில் முகப்பிலேயே வைத்துக் கொண்டதாக சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

இதனால் தான் அம்பாள் சன்னிதிக்கு அருகே, கட்டை கோபுரத்தின் வெளிச் சுவற்றின் மாடத்தில் சனி பகவானின் சன்னிதி அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
சனிகவான் இங்கு தனிச்சிறப்புடன் "அபய ஹஸ்தம்" தோரணையில் இருகரங்களுடன் காணப்படுகிறார். 
மற்ற கோவில்களில் சனீஸ்வரன் நான்கு கைரங்கள் இருக்கும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

மகாபாரதம் காலத்திற்கும் முற்பட்ட
நளதமயந்தியின் விரிவான வறலாற்றை மற்றொரு பதிவில் காணலாம். தற்போது நளசரிதத்தை சுருக்கமாக அறிந்துகொண்டு திருநள்ளாறு சனிபகவான் குறித்த மேலும் பல தகவல்களை அறிந்துகொள்ளலாம்.

வியாச மகரிஷி இயற்றிய மகாபாரதத்தின் வன பருவத்தில், சூதாட்டத்தில் தோற்ற பாண்டவர்கள் வனத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள். அப்போது அவர்களை சந்தித்து ஆறுதல் கூறிய பிரகஸ்தவ முனிவர், பாண்டவர்களுக்கு ‘நளபுராணம்’ என்னும் நளன்- தமயந்தி சரித்திரத்தை சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். இதிலிருந்து மகாபாரத காலத்திற்கு முந்தையது, நளன்- தமயந்தி சரித்திரம் என்பது புலனாகிறது.
