The Birdcage Palimony Scene

Описание к видео The Birdcage Palimony Scene

Scene in The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane where Lane's character (Albert) has been asking about a palimony agreement and Williams' character (Armand ) finally produces it after Albert storms out in a huff over a perceived dismissal from Armand .

In an attempt to convince Albert that Armand does, indeed, love him, Armand hands over the contract, stating that Albert actually owns their property and has the power to share it with Armand with these papers. So Albert, who might have refused to sign in the moment because of their earlier fight, immediately signs, giving them the closest thing to a marriage contract available to two gay men in the 1990s in the US.

This clip is allowed for reproduction under the Fair Use Act because it is being shared for the purposes of Education as part of a larger body of educational materials regarding LGBTQ+ rights and the history of queerness in the US, as well as political commentary on the modern day marriage contract in the US.
