River Stone Kennels was established in 2013 by Josh Miller to provide training services for owners of hunting dogs, primarily dogs hunting waterfowl such as ducks and geese and upland birds such as pheasant, grouse and quail.

The services offered by River Stone Kennels also includes training dogs to hunt for shed antlers and basic obedience programs for dogs, both on and off leash.

Because each dog is unique, the techniques Josh uses pull from a variety of sources which understand the best ways to motivate each breed. One-on-one training is incorporated into all training programs, ensuring that owners have a solid understanding of what their dog is capable of and how to get the most of out of them.

Due to a need to expand River Stone Kennels, owner, Josh Miller, saw an opportunity to purchase a piece of land he had been utilizing at no charge. With the help of an SBA 504 loan provided by WBD and financed through Hiawatha National Bank, Josh was able to purchase the 64 acres and construct a new home for River Stone Kennels. The purchase allows Josh continued usage of the habitat that is helpful in training water dogs which includes a pond, woods, and marsh areas. It also allows River Stone Kennels to increase the number of dogs they are able to house from 16 to 33. Thanks to the purchase Josh will be able to hire another trainer to assist him in bringing out the best in our beloved pets.
