Heavy Duty Lifting Tool | But Will It Hold?

This week we had to machine up six, 300kg monster flanges that were oversized for the megabore lathe. We had to machine up a special plate just to hold them in the lathe, but then realised that there was no way to lift them in!

Our head of fabrication came up with a shop made lifting device that we an insanely simple solution. So simple in fact that we had to hit it with a sledgehammer just to make sure it held in.

PS At the end of this video, you'll see one of the largest drill bits in operation that can drill 250m deep... run off the back of a standard drill rig. The flanges we are manufacturing are part of our biggest drill bit yet - a 3m monster that's absolutely INSANE.
