A short video that features a collection of photographs of the River Crane taken between 2019 and 2022 from Cranford Park Bridge in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The sequence shows how the river channel and river banks change across the seasons.

The River Crane is an urban watercourse that has been heavily engineered over the years, often for flood prevention purposes. And as can be clearly seen from this video, the channel immediately downstream of Cranford Park Bridge is now wide and very straight. This is not unusual on the Crane system. Ideally though, the channel would be more sinuous and less uniform in cross-section, helping to restore the river's natural form and function. Restoration and naturalisation of the river is a key aim of the Crane Valley Partnership.

Cranford Countryside Park is a large public open space close to the M4 motorway and Heathrow Airport. It is one of a number of public amenity areas along the Crane river system providing recreation space for people and vital habitat for wildlife.
