'You Say'- Natascha Bessez (Lauren Daigle)

My mom wouldn't stop talking about this beautiful song she had heard. Most of the time, she sends me new songs she loves so I can cover them, so I listen, and most of the time I move on. On my trip to Australia last month, I was in a store, and this familiar song came through the speakers. It was a sign that I couldn't not pay closer attention.
After downloading it and listening to the lyrics, all I could do was cry. It touched a part of me I don't think any song has. As an artist, it is so hard to believe in yourself with the constant critique and opinion of others. Those close to you, and those you've never met can have a big impact on your self esteem. Over the years, I started to lose more and more confidence, thinking of giving up music, thinking I wasn't ever going to be good enough. The one person who was always by my side through my lowest lows, was my mother. She has epitomized every lyric in this song and when I heard it, I knew I had to sing this for her. Sometimes in life you are lucky enough to find this kind of unconditional love in a parent, a friend, a sibling, a lover, or from your faith. But when you do find it, the strength it gives you picks you right back up. So today, on my birthday, I dedicate this to you Jennifer, thank you for never giving up on me. All I want is to make you proud. Without you, there would be no me, and I believe, what you say to me.

Go find that person that brings this song to life for you... and tell them Thank YOU! I hope you can find it in yourself to one day be that person for someone else. Words are so strong, and you never know when they'll need it the most. You may be saving a dream, or even a life.
