Meet Vlad, a smart contract developer and security engineer, who made it to the finals in his first-ever Capture The Flag (CTF) competition at ETH Escape, co-hosted by The Ethereum Foundation and Immunefi at DevCon 2024 in Bangkok.

In this interview, Vlad speaks with Mike O’Keeffe, Immunefi’s Head of Sales & Customer Success, and reflects on his experience competing across four intense rounds — and making it to the final. He also shares his strategy to tackle easy challenges, and how experience and focus play a key role in CTF success.

Even though Vlad didn’t claim the top prize, his performance was nothing short of amazing for a first-time participant.

ETH Escape CTF/Speed Hacking Challenge was a collaboration between Immunefi and The Ethereum Foundation at DevCon 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. Security Researchers competed IRL across five rounds to win their share of $50,000 and help keep the Ethereum protocol secure.
