SYNOPSIS
After a down-and-out podcaster (Jonathon Carley) is fired due to a rapid decline in ratings, he turns his attention to the mass hysteria myth of the 1938 radio drama "The War of the Worlds" to get his career back on track. With the help of his more successful yet reluctant friend (James Dorman), and a naive waitress/wannabe actress (Elizabeth Coverdale) with dreams of grandeur, the trio set out to recreate a hoax alien invasion to cause chaos, go viral, and bring them the fame and fortune they desire.

CONVERSATION
Who would have thought that Doctor Who could be a gateway drug, right? Well, it is, kind of, ‘Doctor Who: Confidential’ was the actual culprit, that seduced a young Luke Walters into filmmaking.

That was way back in 2005, and now Luke has a wealth of experience under his multi-coloured scarf, having worked on countless TV shows, documentaries, and short films.

His love is sci-fi, and HG Wells’ ‘War Of The Worlds’ is at the pinnacle of everything!

We most definitely touched upon this, and Luke f’sure knows his stuff. Which is why his new short film, ‘I Made War of the Worlds’ makes total sense, and serves as his love letter to the story.

Loving something only carries you a fraction of the way though. You need an actual idea that holds weight. And we spoke about how Luke was able grow an acorn into a tree. The pitfalls of location scouting, finding the right tone, and perfecting scenes with the actors.

Luke most definitely isn’t one to hog the limelight, he couldn’t stop shouting out the team and pointing out all their contributions to the film. Like his writing partner Jaime Carroll, or the fact that the end of credit stinger was down to Jonathon Carley.

I’m sure it resonates how much of a people person Luke is, which really made this a fun chat to have.

Plus, if you're looking to get into ‘Doctor Wo’, Luke gives you the perfect jumping on point!

We did also touch upon what is next, after completing his HG Wells Trilogy, and it sounds great. So jump on now, you don’t want to miss out!!! Watch 📺 the conversation: HERE!    • Echo Chamber - Sci-Fi London 2024 - T...
