Colors
Boom Gel
- Pearlescent Violet
- Native Violet Purple
- Boronia Burgundy
- Metallic Copper
- Manna Crab Blue
- Mallee Ringneck Blue

Cell Activator:
- Amsterdam TItanium White
- Australian Floetrol
(3 parts Floetrol
to 1 part paint)


Pillow Paint:
- Glidden Essentials
Interior Paint Semi Gloss
Base 1
- Golden GAC800
(2 oz. GAC 800 and
24 Ounces Glidden)

I'm using a 16x20 inch gallery wrapped canvas and some Glidden Essentials interior semi Gloss Base 1 house paint mixed with GAC800 as my Pillow Paint. My Cell Activator is Amsterdam Titanium White mixed with Australian Floetrol (1:3). I have not mixed the Boom Gel Stains with anything, Im using them right out of the bottle.

I'm not using a blowdryer, I'm using my Mikita mini Leafblower with the Progessive Trigger to blow out the blooms. I love the mini Leafblower for 3 reasons..
1. it's cordless
2. it blows cool air
3. the progressive trigger allows more control in how hard the air blows. You can push it hard or very delicately, which is awesome to me

I put down some Pillow Paint and the Boom Gels, and some Cell Activator and start to blow out the puddles. Instant clusters of gorgeous compact cells!!

I love the look of the paint blowing outward and these colors all work beautifully together. I really like the burgundy against the white, it made a beautiful soft pink color that was really enchanting. And the cells!!! oh my! 🥰

This Bloom process went very smoothly, but there was one mistake I made, a big one. I got greedy and really liked the composition and all the 'petals' of the blooms.. and so I didn't tilt it or spin it. I didn't do intentionally, I just got caught up in all the pretty colors and cells and didn't think about the fact that it is important to either tilt or spin off some of the paint.

Usually most things I have done using housepaint dry really quickly, overnight most of the time. When I went to check on this piece the next morning there was a very small edge around the perimeter that was dry, but the rest of the canvas still had a big pillow of paint on it.. and the light bulb went on finally! oops! I decided to just leave it alone and see what happens.. so now it's three days later and it's still not really dry in the middle. I see a couple of small areas where the pillow paint cracked a bit, and most of the surface has dried except for the center. This one will dry totally, at some point lol but this was a very good lesson for me about how important it is to remove excess paint from the canvas. Lesson learned! I definitely want to do this again, correctly! I am eagerly awaiting the Boom Gel I bought and we will play again next week!
I also want to try to get the petals wider, they are a bit skinny in this piece. I think my cell activator may have been a touch too thick, I will thin it out a bit more next time. I will definitely tilt or spin out the next one!
