First domestic Syrian flight after Assad's fall lands in Aleppo | ABS-CBN News

The first Syrian domestic flight to take off from Damascus after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s rule landed in Aleppo on Wednesday (December 18).

Jubilant passengers walked down the plane's stairs smiling and holding the flag adopted by the new Syrian ruling body.

Upon landing, the pilot Ali Omar Rida said the hope is for international routes to be restored soon as well, while one of the passengers, Safa Othman, described the joy of being part of such a historic moment, saying she hoped for this event to pave the way for all Syrian youth to travel and return home.

The flight, which departed from Damascus International Airport earlier on Wednesday, shortly after it was officially reopened, carried a number of technical operators and members of ‘This is our life’ youth group.
