UrbanByNature is a knowledge-sharing and capacity-building programme on nature-based solutions (NBS) created by ICLEI Europe. The programme’s purpose is to support the integration of nature-based solutions into communities of all shapes and sizes – metropolis or countryside. Globally, UrbanByNature hubs support regional communities of knowledge and expertise on NBS which take into account the particularities of natural environments, economic and cultural contexts. The hubs have been contributing to accelerate global sustainable development and climate goals through local action. Join UrbanByNature to engage in exchanges on NBS with cities, researchers, SMEs and NGOs and build bridges with hubs across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other interested regions. Fuelled by science-supported implementation of nature-based solutions, UrbanByNature also offers support to cities as they embark on the journey to becoming CitiesWithNature.

The programme is powered by ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, and the EU-funded projects Connecting Nature and CLEVER Cities. It is run in cooperation with the ICLEI World Secretariat and ICLEI regional offices such as the ICLEI East Asia Secretariat, ICLEI Korea and ICLEI South America. The programme is hosted by ICLEI’s Cities Biodiversity Center through its CitiesWithNature platform.
