I will say that this state did have an official state dessert that matches another state, so I had to do more research and pick another popular dessert from today’s state.
For the ganache, just heat 1 cup heavy cream until just simmering, then pour over 6oz semisweet chocolate chips. Let sit one minute then gently stir until smooth. Chill for one hour.
For the crust, add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter cut into cubes, and a pinch of salt. Process on low for 5 seconds, then add 7tbs ice cold water. Process until the dough barely forms, it’ll be in pieces still. Dump into the counter and collect into a disk. Place on a piece of floured parchment, flour the top of the dough, then put another piece of parchment on top. Roll out until 1/4 inch thick, and trim the edges to make a neat rectangle. Cut the rectangle into 4 even pieces, cover and chill for 20 minutes. Put 1/4 cup of the ganache in the center of two of the dough pieces, then use the other dough pieces to put on top and seal the edges, crimp with a fork, and chill while you heat up the oil. Heat 1 qt vegetable oil in a deep skillet until 350 F, and fry the pies for 8 minutes, flipping half way through. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel for 5 minutes.
