Welcome to 'Basics of Materials Engineering' course !

This lecture introduces the concepts of tie line and lever rule for analyzing two-phase regions in phase diagrams. The tie line is a horizontal line drawn at a specific temperature, connecting the boundaries of the two phases in equilibrium. The lever rule is used to determine the weight fractions of each phase present. It demonstrates these concepts using an example of an isomorphous alloy system (copper-nickel).
