...EXTREME COLD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY MORNING...
WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 24 below possible.
WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west
central Michigan.
WHEN...From late Thursday night through Saturday morning.
IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you
wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
