IDF to open gates of hell on Houthis as Yemeni rebels carried out a fresh attack deep inside Israel. Houthis fired a drone that hit the entrance of a hotel in Eilat, causing damage but no injuries. The footage from Eilat showed the moment the explosive drone struck a hotel in Israel’s southernmost city. An hour later, a second drone was intercepted, and later in the evening, the Houthis fired a missile at Israel, which sparked sirens throughout the country’s center but was also shot down by Israeli air defenses.

The Houthi missile force has announced a major military escalation, claiming to have launched a “Palestine 2” fission multi-warhead hypersonic ballistic missile at Israel. This is not the first time Houthis have used cluster munitions against Israel and follow on the heels of Iran, who utilised the banned munition against Israel during their 12-day war in June. The latest strike marks a possible shift in Houthi tactics after reports suggested the group may start targeting multiple Israeli cities simultaneously to overwhelm air defenses.

A Houthi drone launched from Yemen hit Ramon Airport in the southern Israeli city of Eilat, injuring at least two people on Sunday. The unmanned aerial vehicle struck the arrivals hall of the airport, causing operations to be halted. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack. The Israel Defence Forces stated that the fourth drone launched by Houthis hit the airport, and the three others were intercepted before. The military also noted that no siren was triggered for the last drone, and the incident was under review. The attack followed the Houthis' vow to avenge the killing of their Prime Minister, Ahmed al-Rahawi, who died in Israeli airstrikes along with 11 other senior Houthi officials on August 28. Last week, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz also vowed to retaliate against the Houthis after a rise in attacks by them.
