In September 2025, the UK, Canada, and Australia coordinated to formally recognize a Palestinian state, just two years after the October 7th Hamas massacre in Israel. Supporters hailed it as a step toward peace. But what does recognition without unity, borders, or security really achieve?

In this video I argue that premature recognition is not only symbolic, it’s dangerous. It rewards violence, undermines moderates, and ignores the hard lessons of history. From the 1947 UN Partition Plan to the Khartoum “Three No’s,” from Camp David in 2000 to Israel’s Gaza disengagement in 2005, there is a long record of missed chances and rejectionism.

I’ll walk through the core problems with recognition today, the history of failed opportunities, and why appeasement never leads to peace. And I close with a lesson from Imperial Japan: real transformation only comes after radical ideologies are defeated, not before.
