Chronology of discogenic pain : biomechanics clinical features, lecture; spine

In this video, I am going to discuss discogenic pain, which is a very common cause of chronic spinal pain. I am going to review the disc degeneration and discogenic pain by chronology. The core is composed of a jelly-like material that consists of mainly water, as well as a loose network of collagen fibers.
The elastic inner structure allows the vertebral disc to withstand forces of compression and torsion.
The structure of the AF is laminate in nature, consisting of a minimum of 15 (posterior) and 25 (lateral) concentric layers.
The layers are made up of type I collagen fibers which alternate in angles
These alternate multiple layers provide restrain the intra-discal pressure,
resistance to centrifugal force, and prevention of direct extension of annular tears.
Spinal compression generates a hydrostatic pressure in the nucleus pulposus.
