(12 May 2015) US Secretary of State John Kerry praised Russia on Tuesday for its role in combating global extremism, but said there was more yet to be done in Ukraine and Syria.
Kerry was speaking after meeting President Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
Kerry stressed the importance of cooperation between the United States and Russia on pressing international issues, such as the crisis in Ukraine, the nuclear negotiations with Iran, and Syria's ongoing civil war.
Kerry said the US and EU will begin rolling back sanctions against Russia only when the Minsk agreements are fully implemented.
The Secretary of State is in Russia with an eye on easing badly strained relations over the conflicts in Ukraine and Syria.
