The world of healthcare was not an initial option in the mind of Rachael Byrne. After falling into the field by accident she fell in love with a meaningful career that brought excitement and adventure going as far as being in the emergency room.

The journey to get there was not easy: a divorce, two children, working nights, and trying to afford her education made the experience stressful to put it mildly. Thanks to CAPPS, awarding her a generous CAPPS General Memorial Scholarship.

Rachael's energy and inspirational message underlines why she won this award. It also provides the confidence and motivation to others who are questioning whether the field is for them, or if they could handle a career training program while balancing the other difficulties and commitments of life.
