What Two Weeks Of Biphasic Sleep Did To Me (Polyphasic Sleep)

I recently spent two weeks exploring something much of the civilized world left behind in the 1600s A.D. - biphasic sleep, which is a variety of polyphasic sleep.

Literary and historical works from before the industrial revolution are littered with references to people having two separate sleep periods each night divided by a solid block of 1-3 hours of wakefulness in the wee hours of the morning.

Modern humans, with our artificial light, create continuous 16-hour light periods each day, which leaves our sleep compressed into 7-9 hour blocks.

But can we return to the earlier sleeping style of our ancestors with a little work? If so, is it worth doing?

In this video I tell you about my experiment to find out, and the science that has explored the subject. We also mention how meletonin levels change as we change our light exposure patterns.
