Good Intentions

I’ve tried to tell a story
filled with tales of love and glory
of myths of good and evil
and how humankind had lost its way.
The visions I have witnessed
in my dreams and my subconscious
have fueled my passion and my purpose
and have occupied my months and years.
My moments have gotten lonely—
I stay awake no longer hoping
that a messenger might show me
what is waiting next to come.
And deep down, I’m feeling empty
I am so lost; I’m feeling guilty.
I’m living out my final days
one moment at a time.
My last seconds to remember
to regret and to surrender
to repeat and to sequester
moving on from what has been.
It’s so hard to try and digest
that some roads cannot be bypassed
and that my path may lead to blackness
regardless of if I understand.
So maybe all my good intentions
led me to where I’ve mentioned
in a cold, dark, deep dimension
drifting towards my end.
