BED MEANS BED AND HOW IT HELPS WITH ANXIETY

IF YOU HAVE AN AXIOUS DOG AND/OR A DOG THAT STRUGGLES TO RELAX, THIS CAN REALLY HELP.
This clip was taken from today's home visit featuring Gus, the Staffordshire Bull terrier who struggles to relax. He follows the owners from room to room and is wired. He does not seem to have an off switch.
This is more common then you may think with domestic dogs. I see dogs all the time that struggle to switch off and relax, most dogs when they are tired will find a bed, a sofa, or even the floor and just sleep. However the ones with more deep routed problems like Gus, need some human intervention.
Gus needs to be shown how to switch off and how to relax. One of the easiest ways to help him with this is by teaching Bed means Bed. We teach Bed very different to other trainers, the sole purpose of us teaching Bed is to teach a dog it's a place to go to relax and calm down. Because of the way we teach it, very quickly the dogs pick it up and after a few days of practicing Bed, once the owners are consistent with it, the dogs quickly start to relax.
This is just one of the ways we help a anxious dog switch off but it's so important.
