POST RUT ELK HUNT 6x8 - Stuck N The Rut 196

Birthday bull! And my best bull elk yet. Grateful is an understatement. I can’t put into words how fun and challenging and cool this hunt was. I went in with zero expectations as we would be hunting high timber Idaho country on a general tag with only a few days to make it happen.

I was holding out for a mature 6 point so when we found this nice bull, we closed the distance and I shot him at 650 yards across a canyon before he disappeared into the timber. He went down quick. Once we got up to him, I was excited to see how unique he was with some extras !

The hardest part for me was hiking at high elevation after living at sea level for 8 years. Honestly, it felt like I hadn’t hiked all year when I’ve been hiking consistently since spring 😂. This hunt felt harder physically on my body than any Alaska sheep or goat hunt that I’ve done. So that was humbling. It was great being back in the elk woods again.
