Описание к видео How to create super surgeons | Federico Nicolosi | TEDxGEM

Federico Nicolosi is a neurosurgeon working in Milan, at the Humanitas Research Hospital. He is also founder and CEO of UpSurgeOn, a hi-tech company which develops technologies for cognitive and psychomotor training of surgeons. Traditionally, surgical training has been based on the use of cadaveric dissections, but the high costs of this method represents one of the most important limitations to the diffusion of surgical disciplines in many lower-middle-income countries, with a huge negative impact on millions of human lives: 5 millions of unmet surgical cases each year, the lack of thousands of surgeons, in general a real healthcare emergency. In this talk Nicolosi explains how his group and him are working to overcome the limits of cadaveric-based training. By converging technologies with a new philosophy, they are designing and producing advanced, but low-cost, surgical simulations to speed up psychomotor surgical learning curves in any socio-economic environment in the world. The result is a visionary revolution: cadaver-free training and simulation-based skill certification on a global level. This project aims to save the lives of millions of patients affected by surgical diseases throughout the coming years.
