If you want to know how we’re doing with science education, don’t look at children’s test scores. Look at the adults. The conspiracy theories. The tidal wave of misinformation. The rejection of well-established scientific consensus. It’s not subtle.

We've raised generations of adults who don’t understand how science works—who conflate belief with evidence when scientific conclusions challenge their worldview. When large numbers of adults treat science as something to believe in—or not—the science education they received failed them. The result isn’t just confusion; it’s distrust. And when people stop trusting science, everyone loses.
