A Sheridan College student made a short documentary to honor the last surviving Lancaster Bomber pilot.

Eric Cervania, the director of the short documentary "Worthy of Honour," says the six-minute film highlights Stoney Creek's Jack Finan, a World War II veteran and the oldest living Lancaster bomber pilot.

Cervania said, "Jack has a great personality, he has a great sense of humor, he brought so much light. I was very honored, especially for my age, to meet a World War II veteran who made a contribution to the history of Canada."

The Sheridan College film student says "Worthy of Honour" was a class assignment and took about six months to research.

Cervania says the inspiration came from his love for history, which was passed down from his grandfather to his father, and then to him.

"For a long time, I’ve been very fascinated with the history of World War II. My family has a lot of experience, mainly from the Pacific theater."

David Rohrer, president and CEO of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, says it's people like Eric who will help carry the torch passed down.

"We look forward to the new generations to carry it forward and continue to support our way of life and our freedoms for new and young Canadians alike," Rohrer said.

The film hit the big screen last month at Hamilton's film festival.
