Turning a Lidded Box from Scrap Wood | Wood Turning

Turning lidded bowls are honestly one of my favorite items to make. This week I took some scrap sycamore that I have had on the shelf for quiet some time & decided to make one from it. These little bowls are such a versatile item since they can be used for catch-all's, jewelry boxes, salt cellars, candy dishes & other similar uses. For the wood turners, I would highly recommend giving lidded bowls a shot & try to turn one since they offer a view different aspects of wood turning. This sycamore ended up having prettier grain than I initially thought it would since some of the wood from this same log was pretty dull. Either way, sycamore is always a pleasure to work with & it is one species I wish I had more opportunities to turn.
