The outspoken Pose alum Billy Porter has spoken out again against Harry Styles' Vogue cover, questioning the magazine's decision to portray the "Watermelon Sugar" singer as the embodiment of gender-bending and non-binary style. The out gay actor spoke out against the 2020 Vogue cover featuring Styles and addressed the magazine's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, in an interview published on Friday by The Telegraph.

After hearing about the Vogue cover, 53-year-old Porter voiced his displeasure by saying, "It's not Harry Styles' fault that he happens to be white and cute and straight and fit into the infrastructure that way." He spoke out against what he saw as Styles's exploitation of his people. Porter claimed that the singer was picked for the cover because of his race and sexual orientation and criticized him for not having to make any sacrifices. Styles has not publicly stated his sexuality.

While speaking with Anna Wintour, Porter disclosed that he had offered advice on how Vogue could be used to promote the degendering of fashion. Despite their discussion, Styles was selected for the landmark cover and made history as the first man to appear on the cover of American Vogue without a female companion.
