“Duare Ration Scheme’ Of West Bengal Govt Legally Void”: Calcutta HC

The Calcutta High Court on September 28 declared that the ‘Duare Ration Scheme’ (ration at the doorstep) of the West Bengal government is ultra vires to the National Food Security Act, 2013. The High Court also called the scheme legally void. The scheme was introduced by the Mamata Banerjee government in November 2021. The scheme focused on the delivery of food grains under public distribution system at the doorsteps of beneficiaries.
