SSX (2012) Xenia at 1440p 60FPS | Guide in Description

Описание к видео SSX (2012) Xenia at 1440p 60FPS | Guide in Description

Most FPS drops are because of OBS, but a few happened naturally. Although my 99% FPS, as stated through the NVIDIA overlay, is around 58-59 FPS. The emulation isn't 100% perfect, as sometimes some textures bug out, usually, the trail texture as shown at 3:55, and sometimes the large glowing text is bugged out. Also, any of the Antarctica maps that require thermal protection simply do not work. You'll have to skip them, which sucks, but there are over 150 courses that still work as intended. I'd say 9 out of 168 drops isn't bad at all, but it is unfortunate. There are also a few other minor bugs but they do not alter gameplay and the game is perfectly playable, minus Antarctica. Even with these bugs, I still prefer playing this game on Xenia rather than RPCS3, despite RPCS3 being much more user-friendly. This is because RPCS3 has a bad problem with bloom making some tracks impossible to see on. I have not found a fix for that. Xenia also generally gets better performance on this game.

There are some important settings I have changed to make the game run at 60fps and at 1440p. The most important thing to do is to make sure to use the right Xenia Canary version. In my experience, most Xenia Canary versions, when playing SSX, are unstable. The build I use is Xenia Canary Build dc29307a5. Here's a link to it:

https://github.com/xenia-canary/xenia...

To make more changes, make sure to navigate to your Xenia folder and open "xenia-canary.config.toml." I use Notepad, but if you prefer, use something like Notepad++. To search for something, press CTRL + F. Also, make a backup of your original config file in case you accidentally mess something important up.

For 60fps, set "vsync" to false. As far as I know, there is no way to get it to go above 60fps, but if there is, please let me know. I'd love to hear from you!

To get native resolution 1080p, you will have to find the huge folder full of game patches and enable it there. There are already guides for that, so do a quick Google search. It isn't very hard, but you need to make sure you are using a canary build. However, this isn't necessary if you're going for 1080p and don't mind using Xenia's built-in upscaler, but I believe this does cause certain minor graphical glitches. Remember that the game natively runs at 585p so naturally doubling the resolution using Xenia's upscaler will get it to 1080p.

To use the built-in upscaler to increase the native resolution inside of Xenia further, search for "draw_resolution_scale_x" and set it for 2 if you have the 1080p patch or 3 if you do not. If you are having trouble running the game with the 1080p patch while this setting is at 2, you could try disabling the 1080p patch and setting it to 3 for better performance, but your mileage may vary. I use both the 1080p patch and set it to 3 because there are upsides to having a game run at a higher resolution than your monitor. For example, objects further away (trees are a great example) look much clearer despite my monitor not being able to display the true native resolution of the game. Don't touch "draw_resolution_scale_y," this just breaks the game and doesn't even do anything, despite what you (and I, initially) might think.

"postprocess_ffx_fsr_max_upsampling_passes" is something you also might want to play around with. According to the config file, this will also increase the resolution of the game through AI upscaling with FSR1.0. If you are having performance issues, disable everything else and try cranking up this setting. It won't look as good as native resolution, or using Xenia's build in upscaler, but this should perform the best. Without the 1080p patch, set it to 2 for 1080p and 3 for 1440p. Remember, this is because the game originally runs at a maximum of 585p without the 1080p patch.

If you want to just match my settings, here's what you should do:

vsync = false
draw_resolution_scale_x = 3
postprocess_ffx_fsr_max_upsampling_passes = 4
Use the 1080p patch

Personally, I just crank those numbers up, because bigger number equals better person... or something...

If you'd like a video on setting this up from scratch, please, leave a comment. I'd love to know if people are using this guide and care about this game.

All this being said I am not perfect, nor am I a developer. All of the information I found has been cobbled together to make this and it is far from perfect, but the best that I can manage. If you have any tips or have any corrections, I'd appreciate a comment as I am still always learning as well.

I would also be glad to answer any questions you might have to help you troubleshoot!

Thank you for watching and reading.
