NORAD the Arctic Air Defense Exercise AMALGAM DART

From March 20 to 26, 2021, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) conducted the Arctic Air Defense Exercise AMALGAM DART.

During Exercise Amalgam Dart, various military aircraft from the Royal Canadian Air Force and United States Air Force departed from the northern locations including Whitehorse (Yukon Territory), Yellowknife (Northwest Territories), Edmonton (Alberta), Goose Bay (Newfoundland and Labrador), Iqaluit (Nunavut), and Thule, Greenland.

NORAD routinely conducts exercises using various scenarios, including airspace restriction violations, hijackings, and responses to unknown aircraft. This air defense exercise provided an opportunity to hone skills as Canadian and U.S. forces operate together with allies and partners in the Arctic.

Following aircraft participated in this exercise: [NATO] E-3 Early Warning Aircraft, [Royal Canadian Air Force] CF-18 fighter jets, CP-140 long-range patrol aircraft, CC-130 search and rescue tactical aircraft, CC-150T aerial refuelling aircraft, [U.S. Air Force] F-16, KC-10 Extender refuelling aircraft, KC-46 Pegasus & KC-135 Stratotanker, C-130 & C-17 transport aircraft.
