In the future, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen scavenge for medicine amidst the ruins of Metropolis. New Troy Island has been partly submerged by a disaster, leaving the rest suspended above the water. Let’s rewind a few years. In an impending dark future, when Khyber the Immortal rose, he began making alliances with super-villains. Under his guidance, they destroyed the world. The heroes never really knew who was in charge until he became too powerful. When Superman went to confront him, Khyber defeated Superman and threw him at the Earth with such force that it caused a nuclear winter. The resulting shockwave from his impact shorted out electronics worldwide. Billions died, and villains rose to dominance in the aftermath. In Metropolis, the role of hero fell on Lex Luthor.
