Freaky Friday is one of those stories with timeless appeal. Mother and daughter don’t see eye to eye, and spend a day in each other’s shoes to help them better connect with one another. Each generation could adapt this dynamic in a different way—and they have: The original 1976 film starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris; the 1995 TV movie starring Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman; the 2003 hit starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan; and the “wait that exists?” 2018 movie musical starring Heidi Blickenstaff and Cozi Zuehlsdorff. Now, in 2025, we have another installment: Freakier Friday, which reunites Curtis and Lohan for yet another intergenerational adventure. How does this latest version (the first sequel in the Freaky Friday cinematic universe) compare to the others? What can we learn from how these films have changed over time? While I can’t point out every single change ever made to every version, in this video, I hope to find out.
