WordPress stores files in public folders where guests can access member content directly through URLs. Prevent Direct Access Gold Plugin blocks file access for visitors who aren't logged in. When guests try accessing protected files, they hit your 404 page instead.

Setup Steps:

Install and activate both Free and Gold versions of the plugin.
Go to plugin Settings, select General tab, toggle on "Auto-protect New File Uploads."
Click "Set File Access Permission" dropdown, select "Logged-in users."
For Existing Files: Navigate to Media Library, select your file, click "Protect" then "Configure File Protection." Set "File Access permission" to "Logged-in users" and save changes.
Files now redirect unauthorized visitors to page-not-found errors. Only logged-in users can download your content. No coding required.
