The north wind is hard

Is cuireann sí gruaim ar dhaoine
/Iss kwur-ann she groo-em air ghwee-nee/
And it depresses people.

An ghaoth aneas bíonn sí tais
/On ghwee ah-nyass been she tash/
The south wind is damp

Is cuireann sí rath ar shíolta
/Iss kwur-ann she roh air heel-ta/
And it makes seeds successful.

An ghaoth anoir bíonn sí tirim
/On ghwee ah-ner been she cher-um/
The east wind is dry

Is cuireann sí sioc istoíche
/Iss kwur-ann she shuk iss-tee-ha/
And it produces frost at night.

An ghaoth aniar bíonn sí fial
/On ghwee ah-near been she feel/
The west wind is favourable

Is cuireann sí iasc i líonta.

And it puts fish in nets.
