It is widely believed that black magic cannot affect the pure of heart and that spells return to the sender, call it karma if you like. In fact, within Islam and Kejawen there is a belief that magic cannot work unless the sender is pure of heart. Such views are also present within the western tradition, but not as prominent. My own take on this is that it is related to our vibrations and the degree to which we can supress the ego.
Developing this idea that a spell may return to sender is that the universe seeks balance and take the route of least resistance. This is what some people (myself included at times) describe as karma. This is not a judgement of good and evil, but if the intended victim is without greed, jealousy, seeking revenge, they will not be harmed and the sender will.
Indeed, even if the victim is harmed, the imbalance in the universe is likely to result in an equal reaction on the sender, or certainly somewhere in the universe. So many people, who have used magic for wealth, suffer from personal tragedy and this is simply about balance.
But we also need to return to the concept of a contract with the paranormal.
If the sender has entered what they believe to be a Faustian pact, then this is self-fulfilling. In Kejawen we believe that these last for up to seven generations of the sender’s immediate family.
But I don’t really believe that there are external entities, or forces, acting upon us in the ways I have described, but the everything is created by our own consciousness. This is because I believe we co-create our reality with God.
So, when I say that black magic exploits fear, in reality we are only fearful of our own shadow (or shadow self). What I mean here is that the evil we see in others is a mirror on our own evil, simply being reflected back towards us.
That our attempts to control our universe, whether through science, business or magic only reflect our own fears and shadow.
If black magic is about exerting will over others using fear, what of what we call the ‘real world’. Isn’t it all one great control system keeping us enslaved through fear? And if you have followed this logic you will now understand why I shun definitions of magic, for either everything is magic, or nothing is.
