Is AHI Enough? The Truth About Sleep Apnoea Diagnosis

I don't believe in treating sleep apnoea patients based solely on their AHI result. I have found that many people with sleep apnoea find it hard to express how their condition interferes with their life.
I talk through why I do not like the AHI (apart from it being a variable and poorly devised number - see my interpretation of sleep studies to learn more about this), and what other outcome measures we could look at.

I made a questionnaire that allowed people to communicate with their doctors with regards their sleep apnoea symptoms. This way doctors and patients can talk to each other and understand what they are going through. I am hoping that this will help you explain in a standardised, validated way how you are feeling and how sleep apnoea is affecting your life. I hope that your sleep team will accept this and act on the results.
