Mild-Hybrid Performance | 2022 BMW X3 M40i Full Tour & Review

The BMW X3 has gotten an LCI for 2022. We're looking at what's changed and why the 2022 BMW X3 M40i might be on your list for a mid-performance compact luxury SUV.

We've driven a number of BMW X3 models over the years, many of the G01 generation including the xDrive30e PHEV along with the top-end X3 M Competition. This week we're in the mid-performance trim, the 2022 BMW X3 M40i finished in the new Brooklyn Grey Metallic Paint and Fino Red/Black Merino BMW Individual Leather interior. The X3 has gotten an exterior and interior refresh with updated LED lighting, new exhaust tips, and new rear turn signals. The interior has been updated to reflect BMW's current interior design trim with updated HVAC controls. We go over the other changes along with the build options on this specific vehicle.

The B58 straight 6 motor got a mild-hybrid system for this year, bumping the horsepower up slightly along with smoother stop/starts. We take the 2022 BMW X3 M40i on a road test to talk about our fuel economy test results along with our impressions on how this vehicle performs, drives, rides, and handles. We discuss how the X3 M40i compares to some of the other vehicles we've driven and why we like this SUV so much.
