President Donald Trump has recently announced that he’s firing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. This comes after President Trump posted a letter Monday night on social media. In the letter, the President said that he is removing Cook effectively immediately over allegations that she committed mortgage fraud. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook replied to the letter on Monday night, saying that she would not step down. "President Trump purported to fire me ‘for cause’ when no cause exists under the law, and he has no authority to do so," she said in an emailed statement provided to the Associated Press. "I will not resign."
