One of India's most celebrated teachers, Mr. Sonam Wangchuk shares anecdotes of his journey as a student and a teacher. A man who finds the inspiration from within to change an institution and has built an ecosystem to shape confidence, respect, and self- esteem in young adults.

The famous Ramon Magsaysay Award winner, Sonam Wangchuk is a Ladakhi engineer, politician, innovator, an education reformist, and advisor. He is the founding director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) that specializes in teaching outside the norms of the current education system and has been successfully running it for the past 20 years.

This session was conducted as a tribute to all our volunteers on the account of Teacher’s Day 2018, the session was witnessed by the eVidyaloka’s team members, our volunteer community, our special guests Mr. Sonam Wangchuk and Mr. Mangipudi Haragopal, our panelist and eVidyaloka’s trustees Mr. Ramkumar and Mr. Vishy and facilitated by Mr. Pavan, Director Volunteer Management.

eVidyaloka connects volunteer teachers from across the globe to students of rural government schools, using the power of technology. With teaching-learning happening in the regional languages aided by standardised lesson plans and curated content, the children from government schools receive quality education for a promising & rewarding future.

In the Digital Classroom Program, students learn from volunteer teachers in their classrooms using the infrastructure that enable two-way live interactive communication.

In the Teach Through Television Program, curated video lessons in the regional language are broadcast on local television channels to reach more children of rural India.
