In a chilling and tragic incident in Odisha’s Puri district, a minor Plus 2 girl was brutally set on fire by three unidentified assailants in the Balanga Baibara area. The attack occurred on Saturday morning while the girl was on her way to a friend’s house. The miscreants fled after setting her ablaze, leaving her with severe burn injuries.
Locals intervened quickly, extinguished the flames, and rushed the victim to a local hospital. She was later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment. The Odisha police have launched an urgent investigation, while the government has pledged full financial support for her treatment.
This terrifying act comes days after a similar case in Balasore, where a student died by self-immolation, sparking serious concerns over women’s safety in Odisha.
